RefMan or Reference Manager, is bibliographic software originally founded by Research Information Systems, then combined with EndNote and ProCite to form ISI ResearchSoft in 1999.[1] A standardized tagging format was developed by Research Information Systems for use in references.[2][3][4]

Format Information

The RIS format is a plain text line based tagging format.[5][6]
Format begins with the tag "TY" and ends with tag "ER" [7]
There are two major versions of the RIS format.[8][9] [10] Format also has a 1MB file size limit.
