Definition of "based on ISO-BMFF"

So there's a tedious terminology question that could be relevant to a few articles here.

The ISO-BMFF specification (referring to ISO/IEC 15444-12 5th edition 2015-12-15) doesn't really use the term "based on ISO-BMFF". It does talk about "derived formats". Whether that means the same thing, or how strictly we should follow the spec's terminology, I don't care, but it'd be good to be consistent. One could also nitpick about precisely what it is that the name "ISO-BMFF" refers to.

I could easily be overlooking something, but to me the spec seems to be only for time-based formats, and it seems to mandate a 'moov' box (usually not present in HEIF files), and it doesn't seem to permit derived formats to change such a rule. Note that the spec mentions MJ2 as a derived format, but conspicuously omits the other JPEG 2000 formats. -Jsummers (talk) 14:11, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
