GaS
From Just Solve the File Format Problem
GaS is a file compression utility for DOS, developed by iNFiNiTY Software Productions (contact: Ricky Bhatti).
The only known version is 2.0.
The compressor is GAS-UP.EXE, and the decompressor is GAS-DOWN.EXE.
Discussion
The documentation says that GaS only supports text files, but in fact no such limitation seems to exist.
The decompression utility decompresses the file in-place, overwriting the compressed .GAS file. It then asks for a target filename, but has been seen to crash before it can rename the file.
Identification
Unknown. It's not clear if identification of a GaS-compressed file from its contents is possible.
