The Echo-matic, or Cousino tape cartridge, was a form of endless-loop audio tape cartridge that was for a time in competition with the 8-Track tape, though it never reached that format's degree of acceptance. It was invented by Bernard Cousino of Toledo, Ohio in the late 1950s, with continued development through the early 1960s. It got most of its use in the areas of point-of-sale advertising and background music, but was also used in the Zoltan fortune-telling arcade machine to store the canned fortunes it read off.
