File Information
eDrawing files are similar to the SolidWorks main formats, Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings. But the file format is different, it is derived from the HOOPS Stream File format.[4]
Format Information
- Early eDrawings format are identical to the HSF format.
- Later versions, presumably with SolidWorks 2008, a header was used on top of a ZIP format, with HSF file within container.
- Current version uses a ZIP format to contain the HSF file.
- eDrawings files can be wrapped in an executable containing the 3D model and viewing software.
