EBU STL

EBU STL is a subtitle format devised by the European Broadcasting Union, specified in a standard named EBU Tech 3264. EBU STL files can be identified by the string "STL25.01" or "STL30.01" located three bytes into the file.
EBU Timed Text is a successor to this format.
