Jigsaw Puzzle (.JIG) is a file format associated with Jigsaw 2, a jigsaw puzzle game for Windows 3.x. The game was developed by Walter A. Kuhn.
A JIG file contains a raster graphics image, and other data. The .SAV variant seems to be the same format, except that it also contains a save state.
If Jigsaw version 1 exists, it hasn't been located.
Identification
A JIG file starts with an embedded BMP file (presumably BMPv3), except that the signature bytes are changed from "BM" to "JG".
Note that the signature alone does not distinguish JIG from ART (AOL compressed image).
