QDV is a raster image format associated with Giffer, an image viewer for Macintosh developed by Steve Blackstock.
According to the documentation, "QDV format is a simple color image storage format I [Stephen Blackstock] developed which does not use compression. You normally won't ever need to use it."

Some lists include an image format called "QDV (Random Dot Software)". It is not clear whether that is a distinct format, or even whether it exists at all. See QDV (Random Dot Software) for more information.
Other programs named "Giffer" exist, such as this one by Taber Buhl, and this one by Eric Gisin.

QDV appears to have a 5-byte header with no signature, followed by the palette, followed by the image data (always 1 byte/pixel?).
