Name Img Software Set
Ontology
Extension(s) .p, .a, .r, .g, .b
Released ≤1989

Img Software Set is an image processing toolkit developed by Paul Raveling. It has a native image format, which often uses multiple files per image.

  • .p: Colormapped image
  • .a: Image attributes
  • .r, .g, .b: Red, green, blue components

Image files may be compressed, and have an extra .Z extension.

It seems that this software, or an earlier manifestation of it, was also called the Img-whatnot toolkit. We have not been able to confirm or explain this name.

Identification

At least some files begin with ASCII "SCMI".

Files contain segments tagged with "AT", "CM", and "PD".
