Adobe Premiere was video editing software written by Randy Ubillos[1][2], software was replaced with Premiere Pro. Originally written for MacOS, Windows versions were also made.

[edit] File Format Information

  • Adobe Premiere Version 1 through Version 4 used a project format with extension PPJ with the first 4 bytes 52616E64 or "Rand" in ascii on a Mac and 646E6152 or "dnaR" in ascii on Windows. Presumably named after "Randy" the creator". The next 4 bytes are for version.
  • Adobe Premiere Versions 5-6.5 used a project format with extension PPJ with the 32 bytes 5B484541 445D0D0A 7369676E 61747572 653D5261 6E640D0A 76657273 696F6E3D or in ascii "[HEAD]signature=Rand version=". Version 6 and 6.5 often have version=7 in header.

Although there was a Windows version 1.1, version 4.0 was the first version on par with MacOS.

Additional format associated with Adobe Premiere are: batch capture lists (Windows filename extension: .PBL), batch processing lists (.HBP), edit decision lists (.EDL), exported file lists (.TXT), filmstrip files (.FLM), motion settings (.PMT), project files (.PPJ), project settings (.PRS), storyboards (.PSQ), and titles (.PTL).[3]

Adobe Premiere Pro up to CS6 could open PPJ files, but later versions dropped support[4][5].
