MOFF & MODD files are associated with Sony's Picture Motion Browser software[1] which was often bundled with Cyber-Shot & Handycam digital camera's. PMB was replaced in 2014 with Sony's PlayMemories Home[2] which still uses the formats, but are hidden files.
[edit] File Information
When compatible video files are analyzed in PMB software, a MOFF & MODD file is generated containing metadata about the file analyzed[3][4].
- MOFF files contain binary data with a header beginning with the ascii string
MOFF8
followed by the filename. - MODD files contain XML data in a plist with type "ModdXML"[5][6].
