[edit] File Information
Depending on version, DisplayWrite saves documents to a proprietary binary format with the extension .DOC[3][4]. Versions 4, 4.2, and 5 files have the BOF hex values 80000009 20004F7B 4A5D1800 1460
for the first 14 bytes[5][6][7].
DisplayWrite software cannot save to other word processing formats, making it difficult to migrate content. Many other software titles can import DisplayWrite files, like WordPerfect[8][9].
