File Format
Name VoiceDescription
Ontology

VoiceDescription is a file format used in Mac OS X for speech synthesis. The actual VoiceDescription file is stored extensionless, several levels deep within a bundle with a .SpeechVoice extension.

A sample file can be found on OS X systems at /System/Library/Speech/Voices/Alex.SpeechVoice/Contents/Resources/VoiceDescription and some code headers related to it at /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/SpeechSynthesis.framework/Versions/A/Headers/SpeechSynthesis.h.
