IND$FILE is a file transfer protocol used with IBM mainframes. It is used to transfer files over 3270 terminal connections. As well as the name of the protocol, "IND$FILE" is also the name of the program which handles the mainframe side of the connection. The client side of the connection is generally built into 3270 terminal emulators. IND$FILE can transfer files over any network which can transport 3270 data streams, including IBM SNA networks and TN3270 (3270 data stream over TELNET over TCP/IP)

It was also known as IND£FILE, since that is how its name was displayed in the EBCDIC code page used in the UK.
