[edit] Discussion

Depending on the graphics mode, a PAL file may be saved/loaded automatically when the user saves/loads a corresponding PIC file using Dr. Halo. It is also possible to save and load palette files manually.

According to the Encyclopedia of Graphics File Formats: "There are actually two types of .PAL files: generic and video hardware-specific."

[edit] Identification

PAL files start with ASCII "AH", and the byte at offset 6 is 0x0a.
