ComAnsi (Compressed Ansi) is an incompatible variant of ANSI Art format. It reduces the file size, but encodes the same data. It was developed by Tobias Svensson and Topologi Software.

The software includes these DOS utilities:

• ComAnsi - Convert ANSI Art to ComAnsi
• DeAnsi - Convert ComAnsi to ANSI Art
• ShowAnc - Display a ComAnsi or ANSI Art file

Format details

The format simply replaces every occurrence of the ESC [ byte sequence with ESC.

The README.DOC file included with the software (v1.0) briefly describes the format, but with an unfortunate clerical error that makes it completely wrong.
