Disambiguation
Xpa32's .xpa format is distinct from XPACK's .xpa format. Neither utility supports the other's .xpa format.
Xpa32 calls itself "xpa32 file archive demo version 1.0.2".
The developer's website apparently called it "xpack-archiver for win32".

Identification
Xpa32 files start with bytes 'x' 'p' 'a' 0x00. The following byte is a format version number; 0x01 is the only known valid value.
