Ontology
Released 2003

PFS is a raster image file format associated with the pfstools software. It supports high dynamic range images. It is an uncompressed format, primarily intended for temporary files and datastreams.

It was originally going to be named PFM (Portable FloatMap), but was named PFS (Portable Floatmap Stream) instead, due to a conflict.

It is not related to PFM (Portable Float Map), or to ART (PFS: First Publisher).
