Dart (originally named Dash during its development process, but renamed) is a programming language created by Google, intended to replace JavaScript. It was released as open-source software in the hopes that it is adopted by web browsers other than Google's own Chrome, but thus far it has not had an enthusiastic reception outside of Google.
