MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) is a working group for establishing video standards. The results of their efforts are collectively referred to by their acronym, which is applied with various numbers to different particular standards which are described in separate articles. A number of video formats, as well as the popular MP3 audio format, derive from the efforts of MPEG.
