Breeze Text-to-EXE refers to the DOS EXE files created by the "text to .EXE file" function of the Breeze text editor (v3.0+), by Kevin Solway. The function is in the "Extras" menu.

For all intents and purposes, the format is the same as TextLife. Refer to TextLife for more information about the format.

[edit] Format details

Each version of Breeze has around a half dozen available EXE file templates, stored in abbreviated form in the BREEZE.DAT file.

There are many versions of Breeze, but not all of them have a unique text-to-EXE format. What matters is the BREEZE.DAT file, and eight different BREEZE.DAT files have been found:

BREEZE.DAT size Breeze versions Remarks
94184 3.2
94664 4.1 Identical to TextLife v2.3.
93800 4.3
107128 4.5 Contains string "Breeze v4.4".
107224 4.6 Contains string "Breeze v4.6".
107992 4.9 to early 5.2 Contains string "Breeze v4.9".
107608 late 5.2 to early 5.3 Contains string "Breeze v5.2".
109528 late 5.3 to 5.6 Contains string "Breeze v5.2".

[edit] Identification

See TextLife#Identification for relevant information. In general, the only obvious difference between Breeze's format and TextLife is that files made by Breeze v4.4(?)+ contain the string "This program was created with Breeze".
