WIC (also written WiC) (Wavelet Intelligent Compressor) is a DOS program, and its native .WIC format. It is a prank that pretends to be a compressed archive utility, but isn't really.

[edit] Discussion

WIC's behavior is just believable enough that it's not obvious that it's fake.

At least one of WIC's tricks is to store some or all of the file data in a secret file it creates at C:\WINDOWS\WINFILE.DLL.

[edit] Identification

WIC files start with ASCII "WICA" (at least for v0.6b).

[TODO: How to identify the WINFILE.DLL file.]
