Inset PIX is a graphics file format associated with INSET (also written InSet or Inset), a graphics utility for DOS developed by American Programmers Guild. A PIX file contains either raster or character graphics. The format is fairly complex.
The HiJaak line of graphics software (by Inset Systems, etc.) can convert to or from PIX format. HiJaak seems to be the successor to INSET. The successor to PIX format seems to be IGF.
PIX format and/or INSET is also apparently used in some way by several word processors, including WordStar, MultiMate, and PC-Write.
There are at least two incompatible versions of PIX. The best known is the one with version number 3.
