A '''SimSynth Preset''' is used to save settings for SimSynth, a software synthesizer written by David Billen. It is loadable by FL Studio (FruityLoops). While these files allegedly have a .syn extension, one site giving a download of 26 "SimSynth presets" actually has .fst files, the extension for an [[FL Studio State File]], so perhaps presets of this sort are also saved in that format.

[https://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=191898 Forum discussions] seem to generally suggest converting these to [[WAV]] files for wider utility.
