FM (Frequency Modulation) is a method of broadcasting that carries information by modifying the frequency of the broadcast, in contrast to AM (Amplitude Modulation) which varies the amplitude. The term is also used for other encoding techniques that vary frequency, including FM encoding for magnetic disk storage.
