Mindjongg (also written MindJongg) is a Mahjong Solitaire video game, developed by Minder Technology. It is for 32-bit Windows, 1998-2006 era.

The later versions of Mindjongg have a native .IPG format for tile set graphics, and may include an editor. It's undetermined whether IPG was introduced in version 6, or version 5.

Mindjongg was originally named Shanghai 97. The versions that use IPG format are all named Mindjongg.

Disambiguation

Minder Technology released a different Mahjong product named MJ (Network Mahjong). So, one should avoid abbreviating Mindjongg as "MJ". MJ does not appear to use IPG format. Some Mindjongg distribution filenames start with "mg" (not "mj").

Format details

An IPG file contains embedded image files in standard formats. Possible formats include BMP, GIF, JPEG, and TGA.

Identification

The IPG version used by v6.x starts with bytes 05 49 50 4b 30 31, which contains ASCII "IPK01".

The IPG version used by v7.x starts with bytes 05 00 00 00 49 00 50 00 4b 00 30 00 33 00, which contains the UTF-16-encoded string "IPK03".
