'''Nashville''' (aka '''Windows 96''') was a version of Windows operating system that was never released by Microsoft. Although it had some features that were later incorporated into Memphis project (which has became [[Windows 98]] it was a separate project and cannot be seen as "Windows 98 in development".

In Nashville Microsoft has attempted to integrate [[Internet Explorer]] deeper into the operating system. This was often to the detriment of other features. Windows Explorer, for example, has become very similar to its functionality to Internet Explorer, but this meant that one could no longer move up the directory structure (since that feature is not available in any internet browser), but could only move back in history; this meant that if the user has switched to the directory without going through the hierarchy starting at the root of the drive, that needed feature was completely unavailable.
